Started off backpacking in the UK in my mid twenties, and then progressed to more adventurous stuff in the Pyrenees and the Alps. Took up road running in my mid thirties and completed many half and full marathons. Missed the mountains, so went on to do a few mountain marathons in the UK and many fell races, including a few ultras.

Dipped my toe into cycle touring in my early forties, with trips across Arran and Islay, and crossing the Inner and Outer Hebrides. After a failed attempt at the fell challenge; The Bob Graham Round in my mid forties due to weather, I decided to use the fitness gained and cycle solo across Europe. My route was Rotterdam to Dubrovnik. A coast to coast journey of approximately 3500kms over two months. I decided to volunteer on the way teaching English to kids in a remote village called Theth, in Albania.

Having worked in China for the past twelve years, with numerous visits back to the UK and completing tours both in England and Northern France, I'm now fortunate to be semi-retired.
